Which shower panel is best?

Overview:

I need to have shower panels fitted as tiles are unsuitable. Kind regards, Tim.

Question:

I'm new to this, I'm building a new shower, I've never used your products before but am fairly OK as a DIY'er, which panels should I use?

Hello Tim, many thanks for your query.

We do have several different panel types to choose from, all of which are 100% waterproof, it will come down to your preference and budget as to which kind of panel you'd want to go for.

So let me help you out and I'll run through the differences between our panel types.

Firstly, we have our Aquabord Laminate range, this is our highest-quality wall cladding, which is why it's a little more expensive. This range has it's own decorative designs and are extremely durable and hard-wearing. These panels are different to other laminate boards on the market as we use a compressed foam in the centre rather than wood, it makes the panel lighter and easier to work with and also this way we know it is 100% waterproof. The panel measures 1.2m (4ft) wide, 2.44m (8ft) high and 10mm thick, the panel is square edged and would require a joining trim if you wish to extend further than the 1.2m width.

Secondly, we have our Aquabord PVC T&G range, this again is another high quality wall cladding with it's own set of decorative designs. Made of PVC this board has a hollow honeycomb structured centre and again is 100% waterproof. The panel measures 1m (3ft 3") wide, 2.44m (8ft) high and 10.5mm thick, the panel has tongue an groove sides which allows further panels to be slotted together for a seamless finish and without the need for a joint trim.

Next up is our Proclad Solid Colour Cladding range, these panels are a 2.5mm thick, solid piece of PVC plastic, measuring 1.2m (4ft) wide and 2.44m (8ft) high. These are our most hard wearing panels, in fact we use this range in a lot of commercial environments such as wash rooms and working kitchens. The panels are in plain solid colours and with such a wide range of colours to choose from, they are perfect to be used around the home. Again just like the laminate panels, these Proclad panels have square edges and need to use a joining trim to extend past the board width of 1.2m (4ft). The trims for these panels however are colour matched to the panel.

Aquawall is a large plastic wall tile made of a tough plastic, making them 100% waterproof, and with micro joint sides, which gives the impression of a grout line, they are ideal for all areas of the home. The tile measures 650mm x 375mm, are 5mm thick and come in a pack of 8 tiles. You can use the Aquawall horizontally or vertically and you can also mix them with other Aquawall designs.

Finally, our Aquaclad panel range. These are a narrow tongue-and-groove panel in our budget range. These generally come as packs of multiple panels with a 250mm width, this range has the most variations with product dimension, so please check the individual panel product page for specific details. Best for low impact walls for wall cladding, panels within this range are also used for ceilings and to create a feature wall in your home.
